Grandkids :)
Trying to soak up the last couple of days of summer, I walked through Georgetown toward the edge of the Potomac River.
While heading in that direction, I saw a man sitting outside of an Italian restaurant, and I thought I’d say hello.
His name was Frank, and it turned out that he was just waiting for his wife so they could catch the bus.
Though he was visiting DC from home in Pittsburgh, he explained that his family was from Italy.
His parents and many of his relatives still live there, so he said he was excited to visit them soon.
He works as a financial planner, and he was just in town for a work convention during the week.
Outside of that convention, though, the weather made it a great day to spend some time outside today!
What brings him joy?
When his wife came by, she completely agreed with Frank’s source of joy: spending time with their grandkids.
Lucky for them, their grandchildren live nearby in Pittsburgh, so Frank and his wife get to spend a lot of time with them.
When I asked what Frank’s favorite hobby was, he laughed when he immediately answered that it was babysitting.
Coincidentally, I had just gotten lunch with my grandmother up the street at our favorite French boulangerie.
We try to hang out as much as possible because we’re always happy to see each other, so I was glad I could relate with Frank and his wife on this source of joy.
