Read And Smile
It was too nice out to just sit inside this Sunday, so I felt obligated to go walk to a bookstore near my house.
When I got there, I decided to introduce myself to the woman sitting on a bench outside of the bookstore.
Rosemary, as she introduced herself, was from Michigan and had moved to DC during the pandemic.
Much of her family lived here, so she had a good reason to move.
Along with family, being offered a job as a journalist at a local university was also a great excuse to come to DC, and Rosemary has loved working there ever since.
She plays tennis for fun, which we have in common; Rosemary and I agreed that it’s a great way to get some exercise and let go of some stress.
Rosemary has played for a while, and she’s been able to keep it up at some local courts!
Today, though, she was just outside appreciating a nice Sunday afternoon like I was.
What brings her joy?
On most Sundays, she likes to go to the bookstore I found her outside of, and Rosemary chose that as her source of joy.
Conveniently, it’s right next to a delicious bakery, so she can just go grab a bite to eat and do some reading.
Rosemary likes the feeling of being curious about the world, so going through the newspapers and diving deep into new topics is a great way to spend a Sunday.
The bookstore, evidently, is also a great place to meet some new people and have interesting conversations, which we agreed can bring a lot of joy.
There’s always something new to read, and there’s always some joy to be had, so I was glad to hear that those things go hand-in-hand for Rosemary.
