All Grown Up

While my mom and brother searched the Montgomery Mall for a pair of Crocs, I decided to walk around and meet someone new.

As I headed up toward the food court, I saw a man sitting down in front of a Starbucks and thought he seemed cool to talk to.

His name was James, and he was just hanging out there while his wife was shopping.

We both agreed that it was too hot outside, and the mall was a good way to get out of the house.

When I asked about his profession, James responded that he works in IT, specifically in infrastructure design.

He’s been in DC for around 25 years, and before starting his career, James attended George Washington University.

As we were talking, his wife walked up from behind us and introduced herself.

Seeing some confusion on her face, I explained the interview and my blog, and the three of us had a great conversation about how Moments of Joy started.

Meet James

What brings him joy?

Though buying a new pair of shoes at the mall can bring some joy, even greater joy can be gained from family, as James indicated.

He said that he receives a lot of joy from his kids, who are currently in or have graduated from college.

Being able to see them grow up has brought James a lot of joy throughout his years as a father.

He’s been able to guide them and help them find their way, and it put a smile on his face just talking about it.

Though I can’t understand what it’s like to be a dad, I know that there’s also a lot of joy to be received through parents as a kid growing up, and I bet James’s kids would agree.
