Children and God
Walking around the mall that afternoon, I had just returned a pair of shoes and was making my way through the food court.
With not much to do, I decided to introduce myself to a woman sitting at a table near me.
Belgica was her name, and she offered that I sit with her as I told her about my blog.
She was born in Panama and had unfortunately been brought to the US by her family with not much knowledge of her future.
Belgica said that it was hard for her to leave her mother in Panama, and she told me that she grew up in a strict household in the US.
She also shared with me that her faith in God guided her through a lot of hardship, such as going through the difficulties of teen pregnancy.
Despite the challenges, she persevered and now has 5 kids, whom she loves very much.
What brings her joy?
Turning the conversation towards her source of joy, she said that the two biggest ones were her children and God.
Belgica said that they both make her feel whole, and they are incredibly important to her.
According to Belgica, people often believe that things like money bring joy, but it is quite the opposite, seeing as they do not make people feel whole.
Considering this, Belgica was certain of her sources of joy; though I don’t yet know the joy of having kids, I certainly agreed with her that God is a huge source of joy.
