Family Comes First
I had just gotten on the plane to head back home from vacation, so I was a little bit bummed out, to say the least.
Luckily, I seemed to have a very nice man next to me for the flight, so I introduced myself as I sat down.
His name was Pascal, and he was just as sad as I was to be leaving Martinique, the French island that we had both just visited.
Pascal’s parents were from Martinique, and he had been visiting for the holidays and his brother’s wedding.
He also told me that he was heading back home to Virginia, but that he’d been raised in Jacksonville, Florida.
Along the ride, he also mentioned a little bit about his work as a contractor, and I found it really interesting.
Pascal was an awesome person to sit next to because he had so many stories to tell, which I appreciated since there wasn’t much to do on the flight.
He showed me some incredible pictures from his trip, and he mentioned that he often comes to Martinique for Christmas to see relatives.
What brings him joy?
Having experienced a lot of joy on his trip, Pascal told me that his family was his biggest source of it.
Getting everyone in the family together is not always easy, and it doesn’t happen often.
His brother’s wedding was a perfect opportunity to do that, so Pascal emphasized that there was a lot of joy shared throughout the trip.
There had been family members from all different places, even Martinique, and it put a smile on Pascal’s face to talk about the memories they all made.
Interestingly enough, I’d come to Martinique for the same reason.
My French family was able to come together for Christmas and my grandparents’ anniversary, and we made a lot of memories just like Pascal.
When it comes to flights, you often have no clue who you’ll sit next to, and I definitely got lucky sitting next to Pascal!
