“La Famille”

“What in the world is that device”, said the man next to me with a confused smile on his face.

I had just gotten off a train in Paris and was waiting to catch another to the town my family was staying in.

After I explained that it was just a funny-looking charging converter for charging my phone, the man laughed and introduced himself as Dali.

We spoke in French, and he told me that he had been born in Paris but that his family lived in Tunis.

Dali told me about his career as a mechanical engineer as well, saying that he’d always found interest in all things mechanical and technological .

Meet Dali

What brings him joy?

Dali said that he really loved visiting his parents and his sister in Tunis, so he decided that “la famille” was his source of joy.

Even though his job as an engineer was in Paris, he loved to make trips to see them whenever he could.

It was also important to him to go visit them all throughout the year, not just for holidays and special events.

As it turned out, I was doing the same thing with visiting my family in France, so I wished him the best as I headed to catch my train.
