Joy Of A Mother

I was getting back from my first day of midterm exams at school, so I was pretty tired, to say the least.

Waiting for the bus with not much to do, I figured I would start a conversation with the woman next to me.

Her name was Robyn, and she said she was doing the same as me, waiting for a bus ride home.

She lived not too far from where we were, and she’d always lived in DC, also having spent time in California when attending college.

For a long time, Robyn had also worked for several years at Geico in a building not too far from where we were.

However, Robyn told me she had retired and was now taking care of her son, who has struggled with autism his whole life.

Meet Robyn

What brings her joy?

He was her source of joy, she said without a doubt.

As Robyn said, he had come a long way through his life with respect to his condition.

Having attended a school that was able to help him develop and succeed, Robyn had worked hard by his side.

Although many physicians had told Robyn and her son that there was low hope, they did not give up, and her son ended up making immense progress.

Robyn told me that he even has worked at NIH for 11 years now, seeing as he has great skills with computers.

Thus, Robyn was always a proud mother to her son, and he always brought her great joy, which I thought was really special.
