Faith In God

I had to stop by the library to drop off books, but after doing that I poked my head in to see if I could meet anybody.

Sitting at a table in the children’s section, I saw a woman listening to music on her computer and thought I’d say hi.

Her name was Anyi, and she explained that she was an Au Pair and had brought her host family’s kids to the library.

She was from South America, Columbia specifically, where she had been a teacher.

After deciding that she needed a change, Anyi signed up with Au Pair In America and was matched with her current host family, with whom she’s been for nearly two years.

I recognized on her computer the digital bible website that I used in my religion class a few years ago, so I asked her about it.

Anyi said she was working on questions for her bible study with the group she would be meeting with later.

This group consists of friends she’s met during her time as an Au Pair, and they come together regularly to discuss their faith and the questions they have about it.

Meet Anyi

What brings her joy?

Though religion did not play an immense role in her life in Columbia, Anyi insisted that her faith in Christianity is now a vital part of who she is and that it always brings her joy.

When she initially came to the US as an Au Pair, she had anticipated a smooth transition but was met with the opposite.

It was difficult for Anyi at first, but she found comfort and purpose with God over time.

Anyi views her faith as a relationship rather than just a religion, and she loves introducing people to God and loving others through Him.

The beauty of it is that it’s a joy that can be shared with others, which she loves to do.

Whether she’s reading the bible, praying, or just spending time with Him, Anyi gains a lot of joy from her faith.
