Joy Is Contagious

After spending the weekend in New York with my grandparents, my dad and I went to pick up my mom from the airport in Long Island.

In case you didn’t know, there’s not a whole lot to do in airports besides walk and wait, so I decided to spark up a conversation.

The woman I said hello to was Mary, and she was waiting to pick up her daughter from a trip to Florida to visit her grandparents.

Mary said that she was born in Long Island, and that her hometown was not too far from the airport.

Also, she explained that she works as a content creator for medical companies, which she gets to do from home.

In her free time, though, Mary has some awesome hobbies like playing pool, hiking, and gardening! Anything that involves nature, she’s in.

I told her that I also love to play pool, and we agreed that it’s nice to put some music on and just play for a while.

Meet Mary

What brings her joy?

When I asked her about what brings her joy, she gave a response that I loved to hear; seeing other people’s joy makes her happy.

She’d just gotten back from vacation, and being able to see others have a good time made her happy.

As Mary said, joy rubs off on people, so it’s tough to be around happy people and keep a frown.

She showed me a perfect example on her phone: a picture of an upside-down dog she’d seen with a huge smile on its face.

Not surprisingly, just seeing it brought both of us joy!
