Grandkids Rock

Rainy days often keep us indoors, but today I thought I would try to get out of the house and grab some lunch.

As I walked into Chipotle, a woman was throwing away her lunch, and since I was in no rush, I figured I would go spark up a conversation for my blog.

Her name was Lois, and she had been trying to go for a walk when the weather interrupted that plan.

She lived not far from there, and Lois had been in DC for 50 years.

She’d carried out her career as an elementary school teacher, and before retiring she became an editor.

One of her hobbies is tap dancing, which I found pretty cool; however, the fact that she has done it since she was four years old makes it even cooler.

Not only that, but Lois also sings in a choral group locally!

Meet Lois

What brings her joy?

These pastimes are all terrific, but Lois spends a lot of her time with her grandchildren as well, which is her source of joy.

She has three of them, ranging from toddlers to teenagers, and Lois said that they are all awesome kids.

Luckily for her, they live in DC, so she gets to hang out with them pretty often throughout the week.

Whether it's helping the older ones with homework or buying all of them ice cream, Lois said she just loves spending time with her grandkids.

This made me smile because my grandparents also live close by, so we have many similar memories.

While Lois gains a lot of joy from her grandkids, I’m willing to be that they find a lot of joy in spending time with her too.
