Pages of Joy

I’d just stopped for a bite to eat on my way home from a soccer game, and I was headed back to my car.

On my way back, I saw a crowd of people waiting for the bus, and I figured one of them would be fun to talk to.

I introduced myself to a girl named Haniyyah, who was an American University (AU) student waiting for the bus back to campus.

She said that she’s studying political science there, and coming from Texas, she thought DC would be the perfect for that field of study.

Haniyyah hopes to go to law school in the future, and her activities in school are certainly geared toward that.

Ever since high school, Haniyyah has been invested in the field of law, especially as a student in debate tournaments.

In her free time now, she does Mock Trial at AU and writes law reviews in the legal journal, which she finds super interesting.

Meet Haniyyah

What brings her joy?

As for her source of joy, Haniyyah simply likes to read whenever she gets the free time for it.

Her college schedule has been pretty busy, but when she finds the time for some reading, it’s a nice break from the stress of everyday life.

Haniyyah especially likes mystery novels, and it’s great to just get stuck in a book and relax for a while.

She’s had this source of joy since she was a kid; for instance, she was always part of a book club growing up.

Ever since then, flipping through a book has brought Haniyyah joy, and I’m on the same page as her about this source of joy!
