Who’s A Good Boy?

I had a very cool afternoon today, considering that I got to go help with a service organization called Serve Your City.

Working with these people to distribute meals to the homeless in DC, I got to meet a nice woman named Murphy.

She was from Oregon and her husband, who was also there, was from Oklahoma.

However, she and her husband (Brian) moved to DC 5 years ago.

Murphy formerly served in the military, and she currently works as a consultant here in DC.

The two have been working with this organization since 2020, and Murphy told me that they love being able to come to help those in need.

Unlike them, it was my first time helping there, and they were really helpful with explaining how it all worked and where we needed to go.

What brings her joy?

Both Murphy and her husband could definitely agree that a consistent source of joy for them is their dog, Goose.

Murphy also said that Goose always waits at the window when Brian comes back from the gym in the morning, which always puts a smile on his face.

She told me that they had recently gone for a trip down to Florida for Brian’s birthday and that her mother had been nice enough to come all the way from Oregon to help watch Goose while they were away.

Murphy even showed me a picture of him in the window, which I thought was super funny, and I thought about how my dog brings me joy as well.
