Writer’s Block
When I sat down at the table where she was eating lunch, I didn’t want to interrupt the meal she seemed to be enjoying
She smiled, however, and introduced herself as Daisy.
We learned that we were both from the DMV, and had both decided to spend a fun day at the mall.
Working as a writer, Daisy shared that she, unfortunately, was dealing with a bit of writer’s block.
When I asked her about her life, she shared that after high school, she had discarded all her books and had lost her passion for writing.
Fortunately, though, one of her English professors in college inspired her to take it up once more, telling her he loved her work.
What brings her joy?
Daisy told me that she had never really wanted to have kids and that she feared the idea of not being able to handle the responsibilities of motherhood.
Ironically, however, as we talked she said without hesitation that her two children were her biggest source of joy.
Daisy always taught them the importance of being loving to other kids, and they embraced their Spanish culture as a family.
Daisy made it clear how much joy her kids bring her, and there is no doubt in my mind that she is an excellent mother.
